About

Are you wanting to help your child/teenager learn healthier coping skills and improve their emotional regulation skills so they are better equipped to handle life's challenges? Are you looking for parenting strategies to help? Are you feeling anxious, depressed or overwhelmed? I can help and I am glad that you are here.

My name is Chelsey and prior to becoming a therapist, I worked as an Educational Assistant with the Durham District School Board where I supported children with intellectual disabilities and developmental disabilities as well as Autism. Prior to that, I worked as a Family Support Worker and Developmental Services Worker. These experiences have reinforced my passion for helping others. I want to make a positive difference in peoples lives, particularly for those who are struggling within their mental health, emotional dysregulation and low self esteem, as I did in my own teenage years and young adult life.

Together, we can explore past experiences, traumas (if you are comfortable doing so) and current challenges in a safe and supportive environment so we can create positive and sustainable change. I can also utilize CBT skills to help you understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings and behaviours to increase ones sense of control and self acceptance.

I am passionate about helping and supporting people on a journey to discover themselves with warmth and humility. I want to help create a safe environment to encourage you to be open and be yourself. I will engage in active listening skills with empathy, compassion and without judgement.

I will also utilize various frameworks and evidence based practices of psychotherapy, we can work together to help you and your kids grow and understand yourself on deeper, new levels. I look forward to showing you and your children/teenagers how resilient you all are!

In my spare time I enjoy being with my dogs, going for walks or reading by the lake. You can also find us reading, doing puzzles or watching a documentary or a show. I enjoy watching true crime, a good comedy or horror movies.
