Become Fully Present & Enjoy Life

Many of us move through life on autopilot, feeling disconnected from the moments that truly matter. Deep down, we long to be more present—for ourselves and those we care about. It’s easy to get swept up in the fast pace of daily life, stuck dwelling on the past or worrying about an uncertain future. Being fully present can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when the present moment brings pain, fear, or loneliness.

But you don’t have to face this alone. We’re here to support you every step of the way. Together, we’ll create a safe, understanding space where you can freely express yourself, heal, and begin to move forward. With time and guidance, you can rediscover what living fully in the present means—embracing the here and now with renewed strength and hope.

What to Expect

In therapy sessions, you can expect a safe and supportive environment in which you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences. You can expect a non-judgemental and confidential space for you to be your true self. You can expect to be treated fairly and with compassion.

During your initial assessment, you will be asked various questions, but you can always decline to answer anything you do not wish to discuss. Your therapist will ask you to set goals that you would like to work towards together and will monitor your progress in the follow-up sessions. Your therapist will implement evidence-based techniques to equip you with the inspiration and strategies/tools needed to move forward productively and healthily.

Treatment Approaches: Individualized Treatment Plans

Your therapist will work closely with you to design a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your unique needs and goals. They’ll draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches, such as traditional talk therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). If these terms sound unfamiliar, don’t worry—they simply refer to techniques thoroughly researched and shown to be effective.

We’ll also include tools like relaxation techniques, problem-solving strategies, and healthy coping skills when they’re helpful for your journey. Most importantly, you and your therapist will collaborate to create a plan that feels right for you and supports you in reaching your goals with care and confidence.

Prioritize Yourself Because You Deserve It

Putting others first or focusing on physical health while overlooking our emotional and mental well-being is expected. But just as a plant needs water to thrive, we need to care for ourselves to grow and heal. When left unaddressed, emotional wounds and past traumas can weigh us down, making it harder to move forward. Unresolved feelings, like pressure inside a volcano, can build up until they surface in ways we don’t expect or want.

You don’t have to carry this alone. We’re here to help you lighten the load, work through your challenges, and discover your inner strength. Together, we’ll nurture your resilience and create space for growth and healing.

Invest in yourself. Your future self will thank you for it.

Individual Psychotherapy FAQ

  • Does insurance cover sessions?

While OHIP does not cover therapy services, many Extended Health Benefit plans (such as insurance companies) may offer coverage for therapy sessions, either fully or partially. If you don’t have benefits or face financial limitations, we are committed to making therapy accessible.

We offer sliding scale fees and reduced-cost sessions with our psychotherapy interns. This allows you to receive the support you need without the financial strain.

Feel free to contact us for more information about insurance coverage or to explore our sliding scale options.

  • What is CBT?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based approach used to treat a variety of issues like anxiety, depression, and stress. It’s built on the idea that our thoughts impact our feelings and actions.

CBT helps improve emotional well-being and promotes healthier behaviours by identifying and challenging negative or unhelpful thought patterns. The focus is on the present, where your therapist works with you to shift negative thinking, gradually face fears, and reduce avoidance.

CBT encourages engaging in enjoyable activities and teaches practical coping skills to handle life's challenges.

  • Is CBT all you do?

While CBT is a core technique, we don’t rely on just one method. Each person is unique, and your therapist may incorporate various therapeutic approaches to best support your needs.

During your first session, your therapist will assess your situation and work with you to determine the most helpful techniques. Other methods may include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Trauma-Focused Therapy, and more.

This personalized approach ensures you receive the care that aligns with your goals and helps you make lasting changes.
