Online Therapist Toronto Jennifer Gould

Jennifer provides individual therapy to children, teenagers and adults.

Jennifer has worked in a variety of inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, including the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Sunnybrook Hospital, and The Royal Institute of Mental Health.

Jennifer is passionate about using her skills and experience to help children, youth, and adults overcome life stressors and challenges, strengthen existing coping strategies, and learn new practical skills to make sustainable change. Through client-centred collaboration, Jennifer strives to provide an open, non-judgmental space for clients to explore and work through their treatment goals while ensuring safety. Jennifer has a special interest in working with Queer and Disabled folks, and enjoys drawing on her personal and professional experiences in this area to support these communities.

Jennifer has treated a range of mental health challenges, in addition to helping folks navigate parenting, life-adjustment difficulties, and peer/family conflict. She mindfully takes the time needed to collaboratively build trusting therapeutic relationships to offer clients a safe and brave space. Jennifer uses an integrated approach to treatment; incorporating evidence-based therapeutic modalities, neuroscience, and a systems-level lens to acknowledge the realities and challenges of the world we all live in.

Throughout her experience as a social worker, Jennifer has recognized the importance of critical self-reflection in both practice and research. Their practice is culturally sensitive, LGBTQIA+ affirmative, and anti-ableist. Jennifer enjoys incorporating humour and play into therapy when appropriate, and utilizes creative interventions to engage children in online therapy sessions. Jennifer firmly believes that genuine human connection and advocacy for the inherent worth, dignity, and needs of clients should be at the forefront of a therapist’s responsibilities.

Outside of work, Jennifer prioritizes spending time with her friends and family, including four-legged family members. In their spare time, Jennifer enjoys spending time outdoors, playing in a recreational dodgeball league, painting, pottery, and gardening.
